This enables us to provide premium "A" grade quality whole chickens direct to retailers. Working closely with our sister company, Salisbury Poultry we have the ability to offer the end user full farm to fork traceability, ensuring total customer satisfaction.
Job Role
The Night Hygiene Operative will be responsible for ensure efficient cleaning of the factory to required hygiene standards as set out by the Technical Department and that the work reflect current best practices to enable the site to meet all customer requirements.
The duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Cleaning all machines, equipment and areas in the factory so that micro-organisms are destroyed or reduced to such levels that they are neither harmful to health nor the quality of perishable foods
- Ensuring that the cleaning process does not become a risk to food (for example, cross contamination and foreign bodies)
- Meeting all deadlines to minimise costs and disruption to other factory operations
- Avoiding all waste but specifically minimising the use of materials, water, chemical and thermal electrical energy
- The safe operation of cleaning equipment
- Using chemicals safely and appropriately
- Reporting health and safety hazards and serious incidents
- To ensure cleaning operations are conducted in compliance with customer specifications, whilst meeting quality, productivity and cost targets
- To ensure adherence to Food Standards legislation throughout the production process
- To ensure strip downs, deep cleans, disassembly and reassembly of all equipment including but not limited to skinning machines, conveyors, dicing/mincing machinery as necessary on required basis
- Ensure COSHH compliance and also safe working with chemical training
- Adherence to Health and Safety guidelines and procedures at all times by ensuring the use of correct PPE at all times and safe systems of work
- Working to Cleaning Instruction Cards (CIC’s)
- Adherence to all hygiene policies and procedures

To ensure maximum efficiencies within the operation, flexibility is essential. You will be required to assist in other areas which could include other departments within the business.
Hours of Work
The working schedule is on a rotational basis:
Shift 1: Monday 18:00pm - 06:00am, Tuesday to Friday 22:30pm - 06:00am
Shift 2: Tuesday to Saturday 22:30pm – 06:00am, Saturday 18:00pm – 06:00am
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Previous experience of working in a hygiene role
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals
- Self- motivated and ability to work on own initiative
- Aware and understand the importance of Health and Safety, Good Manufacturing Practice, Hygiene etc. is required
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Good manual dexterity
- Ability to work at heights safely
- Literate and numerate for records
- Ability to work as part of a wider team
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Previous experience of working within poultry / meat industry
- Previous experience of working in FMCG environment
