Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented MOT Tester/Mechanic to join our dynamic automotive service team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for conducting thorough vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with MOT standards, as well as performing general mechanical repairs and maintenance. Your expertise will help keep vehicles safe, roadworthy, and compliant with legal requirements. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive MOT tests on a wide range of vehicles, ensuring all safety and emissions standards are met or exceeded
- Perform routine vehicle repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance tasks using both hand tools and power tools
- Inspect vehicle components such as brakes, lights, suspension, exhaust systems, and steering for wear or damage
- Use mechanical knowledge to identify issues accurately and recommend appropriate repairs or replacements
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and parts used in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently while adhering to health & safety regulations at all times
Experience
- Proven experience working as an MOT Tester or automotive mechanic in a fast-paced workshop environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge across various vehicle systems and components
- Hands-on experience with hand tools
- Familiarity with power tools used in vehicle repair and maintenance tasks
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate inspections and high-quality repairs
- Valid MOT testing license
