Overview
Starfish & Coffee is a cafe situated next to beautiful Queens Park and a 10-15 minute walk from Brighton Pavilion, famed for it's multi-award winning brunch.
We are seeking a server to join our vibrant weekend team to provide our guests with exceptional service while crafting a variety of beverages and serving food.
Our perfect applicant will be charismatic and hard working and able to maintain high standards during busy periods.
Responsibilities
- Serving food and clearing tables while engaging with customers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the restaurant & bar area, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently, maintaining a balanced till at the end of each shift.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
- Covering Kitchen Porter duties when he is off
Experience
- Previous experience in food service is required.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices is advantageous.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a busy environment.
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions and managing tabs.
- A friendly and approachable demeanour, with the ability to help create a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
Hours: Minimum of 10am-2pm on either Saturdays or Sundays. Plus the option of other cover shifts.
This role will also include covering our Kitchen Porter when he is off.
Rate: Between £10.85ph to £12.71ph (depending on age) plus statutory holiday and pension benefits if eligible.
Tips & Service Charge: Between £3-4.50 per hour worked, depending on time of year, plus daily cash tips on top.
Availability at weekends throughout the summer holidays, and references/evidence of working in a similar role, will be required.
