Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Pool & Gym Attendant to join our team. This multi-faceted role is key to ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all our members. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for safety and assistance in the pool and gym areas during their shift. This position balances mandatory safety oversight, facility cleaning, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Oversight
- Primary Incident Responder: Act as the first point of contact for any incidents, accidents, or emergencies in the pool or gym areas, backed by your qualification. Administer first aid and follow all emergency procedures.
- Pool & Gym Monitoring: Maintain a visible presence to oversee the general safety and conduct of members in the pool and gym.
- Rule Enforcement: Politely ensure members and guests adhere to all facility rules and safety guidelines.
- Facility Checks: Regularly inspect the pool area, gym equipment, and changing rooms for any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or damage. Report any findings to management immediately.
Cleaning & Facility Maintenance
- Poolside Cleanliness: Be responsible for the cleanliness and tidiness of the entire poolside. This includes mopping floors, wiping down surfaces, and ensuring the area is free of clutter.
- Gym Upkeep: Perform daily cleaning duties in the gym, including wiping down exercise equipment, tidying weights and accessories, and ensuring the space is organized.
- General Tidiness: Ensure changing rooms, common areas, and walkways are clean, presentable, and well-maintained throughout the shift.
Customer Service & Reception
- Member Assistance: Greet members and guests in a friendly and professional manner, answering questions and providing assistance as needed.
- Reception Duties: Assist with basic reception tasks as required, which may include answering phone calls, handling member check-ins, or responding to basic inquiries.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- A valid, current lifeguard or pool responder qualification (e.g., NPLQ, Pool Responder, or equivalent) is essential.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to act calmly and quickly in an emergency.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to manage cleaning tasks without constant supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong customer-service focus and a friendly, professional attitude.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a leisure centre, gym, or hospitality role.
- Experience with cleaning and general maintenance.
- Basic administrative or reception skills.
Hours, Contract & Benefits
- Contract: This is a zero-hour contract, offering excellent flexibility to fit around other commitments.
- Hours: We require flexible availability to cover various shifts as needed, including evenings and weekends (Monday - Sunday).
