Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable and professional GP Receptionist / Administrator to join our busy GP practice team.
The role will involve being the first point of contact for patients, both face-to-face and over the phone, booking and managing appointments, dealing with patient queries, processing prescriptions, registering new patients, and supporting the wider clinical and administrative team.
The successful candidate will also support with general administrative duties within the practice, including processing referrals, medical reports, insurance forms, patient registrations, scanning and filing documents, managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, updating patient records, and assisting with tasks on EMIS Web.
The successful candidate should ideally have GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths, good written and spoken English, and good computer skills. Previous experience in a GP surgery, NHS or healthcare setting is preferred, and experience using EMIS Web would be highly desirable. Previous reception, customer service or administrative experience would also be beneficial.
Main duties include:
- Answering telephone calls and dealing with patient enquiries professionally
- Booking, cancelling and amending appointments
- Using EMIS Web to update patient records and manage appointments
- Processing repeat prescription requests and administrative tasks
- Supporting with referrals, medical reports and insurance forms
- Registering new patients and updating patient details
- Scanning, coding and filing documents onto patient records
- Managing emails, letters and other practice correspondence
- Supporting clinicians and the wider practice team with day-to-day admin tasks
- Maintaining confidentiality and following GDPR/NHS policies
- Providing excellent customer service to patients
The ideal candidate will be friendly, patient-focused, flexible, organised and able to work well as part of a team. They should be able to work under pressure in a busy healthcare environment, communicate clearly with patients and colleagues, and be willing to complete any required training.
Training will be provided where required.
Pay: £24,420.00-£26,000.00 per year
