We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and hands-on General Manager to lead The Grey Gosling in Thurlaston. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate hospitality professional to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy 60 seater restaurant, ensuring exceptional customer service, strong financial performance, and a positive working environment for the team.
As General Manager, you will lead by example, inspiring and developing your team to deliver outstanding food, drink, and service. You will be responsible for all aspects of the business, including team recruitment and development, stock and cost control, sales growth, compliance with health and safety and licensing regulations, and maintaining the highest standards throughout the venue.
The successful candidate will be commercially minded, highly organised, and confident in managing all operational aspects of a hospitality business. You will have previous management experience in a pub, bar, or restaurant environment, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a genuine passion for creating memorable customer experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the pub.
- Leading, motivating, and developing the team.
- Delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards.
- Managing staffing, rotas, recruitment, and training.
- Controlling stock, labour, and operating costs.
- Driving sales and profitability.
- Ensuring compliance with licensing, food safety, and health and safety legislation.
- Building strong relationships with customers and the local community.
- Working closely with the kitchen team to deliver a consistently excellent guest experience.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at all times.
This is a hands-on management role that requires flexibility, strong leadership, and a commitment to delivering outstanding hospitality.
