The Role: SEN Teacher
Location: Hythe/Southampton
Start Date: September 2026
Pay: £150 - £280 per day depending on experience
Creative teachers are seeking from September 2026, a passionate and experienced Primary trained teacher to join an SEN school in Hythe near Southampton. Working with a small class of secondary-aged pupils who are currently working at Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) levels. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be teaching a small group of pupils with a diverse and complex range of needs, including:
- Social, emotional, and mental health challenges
- Communication and interaction difficulties
- Cognitive and developmental delays
Your role will involve:
- Planning and delivering engaging, EYFS-level lessons tailored to older pupils
- Implementing targeted interventions to support emotional regulation and social development
- Using a range of communication strategies, with Makaton knowledge highly desirable
- Working closely with a skilled support team and external professionals
- Creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment
Requirements:
- Qualified Primary Teacher (QTS)
- Proven experience working with children with complex needs
- Strong understanding of SEND strategies and interventions
- Experience adapting EYFS curriculum for older learners
- Knowledge of Makaton and other alternative communication methods (desirable)
- EYFS experience (advantageous)
- A nurturing, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
