Security Controller
We're supporting a leading Defence organisation in the search for a Security Controller to join their team in Bristol.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced security professional with a strong background operating within FSC/List X environments, ensuring compliance with UK Government and Defence security requirements.
The successful candidate will act as the focal point for security governance, compliance and assurance activities across the business, working closely with customers, auditors, MOD stakeholders and internal teams to maintain a robust security posture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead security compliance activities across the business, ensuring adherence to FSC, SAL, personnel security and classified information handling requirements.
- Maintain oversight of security governance frameworks and act as the primary point of contact for security-related audits and inspections.
- Engage confidently with customers, auditors, ISAC representatives and MOD stakeholders.
- Own and maintain security policies, procedures, risk registers and compliance documentation.
- Support personnel security processes and vetting activities in line with government requirements.
- Coordinate security assurance activities across physical, personnel and information security disciplines.
- Investigate security incidents and support the development of security response and mitigation plans.
- Promote a strong security culture through awareness initiatives and stakeholder engagement.
About You
- Proven experience operating within a Defence contractor, FSC or List X environment.
- Strong understanding of security governance, compliance and assurance requirements.
- Knowledge of FSC compliance, Security Aspects Letters (SALs), personnel security, classified information handling and audit processes.
- Experience engaging with MOD customers, auditors and government stakeholders.
- Able to provide oversight, governance and assurance across multiple security disciplines rather than acting as a technical specialist.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills.
- Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
Desirable Experience
- Defence Conditions Compliance (DCC).
- ISO 27001 and Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).
- Physical security systems, access control and CCTV.
- Security risk management and incident response.
