We are seeking a motivated and experienced Commissioning Officer to join our dynamic Commissioning & Placements Group within Children, Families and Cultural Services. This pivotal role focuses on the commissioning, procurement, and financial management of education, care, and support placements for children and young people aged 0–25 with Special Educational Needs, Disabilities, SEMH needs, and complex support requirements.
As a Commissioning Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

Collaborating with education, social care, health colleagues, providers, and families to secure safe, suitable, and value-for-money provisions.

Responding to placement requests and sharing accurate information with providers.

Monitoring commissioned services and supporting budget management.

Analysing complex data to inform decision-making and contribute to service improvement.

Building strong partnerships to enhance service delivery and outcomes.
To succeed in this role, you will need:

A degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant area.

Strong knowledge of SEND, safeguarding, procurement, and budget monitoring.

Proven experience in strategic or operational commissioning within a local authority, health, or housing setting.
