About us
Magnetic Business Development is an established business development consultancy with more than twenty years of experience helping ambitious organisations grow. We work across specialist and regulated sectors, securing high-quality, qualified meetings and building lasting commercial relationships on our clients' behalf.
We are now building something exciting. We are codifying our proven methodology into an intelligent commercial system that combines our business development expertise with AI and modern technology to make our output even more consistent, more measurable and more scalable. It is an exciting moment to join: established enough to be stable, ambitious enough to be building the future. Our guiding belief is simple. Technology should perform the repetitive work so that our people are free to do what people do best, building relationships and winning trust.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Sales Operations and Team Lead to lead our UK based out reach team to a consistently high standard, while remaining hands-on as a strong business developer in your own right. This is a genuine leadership role, not a senior business developer with a title. You will take charge of the day-to-day running of the team, raising performance, coaching individuals and protecting the quality of everything we do, while leading from the front by example.
It is a rare blend of leadership and delivery. If you are excellent at outbound prospecting and love developing people and building a high-performing team, this role is built for you.
What you will do
Leading the team
- Coach and develop. Coach the team daily, raise individual performance and develop the capability of every business developer.
- Performance and standards. Be accountable for the team's performance against target and hold everyone to a high standard of activity and quality.
- Quality assurance. Review the quality of conversations, qualified meetings and client-facing work, and feed improvements back into how the team works.
- Day-to-day leadership. Run the team's rhythm, remove blockers, manage workload and be the first point of escalation.
- Culture. Set the tone, reinforce our values and build a motivated, accountable, high-performing team.
Sales operations and performance
- Maximise utilisation. Ensure the team's time is used productively against client-funded activity, keeping utilisation high and capacity well managed.
- Hit the KPIs. Drive the team to meet its daily and weekly activity and outcome targets, including calls, follow-ups, touches and qualified meetings.
- Manage capacity and allocation. Match the team's capacity to client commitments, allocate work sensibly and make sure every client receives the activity they are paying for.
- Pipeline and forecasting. Keep the pipeline accurate and current, monitor conversion at each stage, and give the founder a clear, reliable view of performance.
- Reporting and data quality. Ensure activity and outcomes are accurately recorded, so reporting to clients and to the business is clean and trustworthy.
- Spot and fix early. Use the numbers to identify underperformance or bottlenecks early and act on them through coaching and reallocation.
Leading from the front
- Active prospecting. Personally deliver qualified meetings and outcomes for clients, setting the example for the team and training as you show junior members how its done.
- Demonstrate the standard. Show the team what good looks like, in your own results as well as in your coaching.
A note on balance. Your own desk targets are deliberately set lighter than a full-time business developer's, so that leading and developing the team is always protected as the priority.
What we are looking for
- A proven B2B business development track record capable of who can lead from the front and earn the respect of the team by example.
- A natural leader and coach who develops people and lifts the performance of those around them.
- Quality-minded, with high standards and the discipline to hold others to them.
- Organised and accountable, able to take responsibility for outcomes, not just activity, and to run a team to its KPIs and utilisation targets.
- A culture builder who leads rather than manages and builds trust with the team and with clients.
What success looks like
- A team that consistently meets its targets for qualified meetings and conversion.
- Strong utilisation and KPI delivery across the team, with every client receiving the activity they are paying for.
- Conversations and client-facing work that meet our standard, every time.
- Business developers who measurably improve under your coaching.
- A motivated, accountable team with strong retention.
What we offer
- A competitive salary of £30,000 to £45,000, depending on experience plus a team performance-related bonus.
- A genuine leadership role with real ownership and visible impact.
- The chance to shape a high-performing team and help build something ambitious.
- A supportive, professional, office-based environment in Eastbourne.
To apply, please get in touch with your CV and a short note on why this role appeals. Standard confidentiality and intellectual property terms apply, as you would expect for a leadership role in a business building proprietary systems and data.
