Learning Disabilities Support Worker – Day Centre (Mon–Thurs 08:30–16:00)
We’re currently seeking an experienced Learning Disabilities Support Worker to join our team and support adults within a friendly, person‑centred day service. The core hours are Monday to Thursday, 08:30–16:00, with some flexibility preferred to help cover holidays and sickness when needed.
The Role
As a Support Worker, you’ll play a vital part in helping individuals enjoy meaningful, fulfilling days. You’ll provide practical assistance, emotional support, and encouragement, ensuring every person feels valued, respected, and empowered.
Key Responsibilities
- Promoting independence – supporting individuals to take part in daily activities, develop new skills, make choices, and build confidence.
- Facilitating activities and lessons – planning and delivering engaging sessions such as arts and crafts, cooking, exercise, sensory activities, life‑skills lessons, and community outings.
- Medication administration – safely administering medication in line with organisational policy, completing MAR charts accurately, and reporting any concerns promptly.
- Safeguarding and wellbeing – maintaining a safe, supportive environment and following all safeguarding, health and safety, and infection‑control procedures.
- Building relationships – working closely with families, carers, and professionals to ensure consistent, compassionate support.
- Record keeping – completing clear, accurate notes, updating care plans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist with some personal care.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Kind, patient, and empathetic, with a genuine passion for supporting others.
- Experienced in medication administration, including confident use of MAR charts.
- Able to plan and deliver structured, meaningful lessons tailored to individual needs.
- A strong communicator who can build trust and positive relationships.
- Reliable, flexible, and comfortable working as part of a supportive team.
- Respectful of individuality and committed to equality, inclusion, and person‑centred care.
