Job Responsibilities
- Contribute to the establishment of monthly and quarterly technical reporting and analysis while continuously seeking to improve the quality, relevance, and reliability of management information, reducing manual effort, improving consistency, and working with technology and transformation teams to embed scalable reporting
solutions.
- Own and explain technical results for all regulated entities, including identification and investigation of material movements, providing in-depth analysis of variances between actuals and forecasts, identifying key drivers and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the wider team to understand the transactions within the ledgers and support finance transformation and process improvement projects from entity to Group level.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics, providing actionable insights to improve business performance.
- Collaborate with the finance leadership team to support the annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes as required.
- Play a leading role in the annual business planning and reforecasting cycles, ensuring consistency of assumptions, clear linkage between underwriting plans, financial outcomes, and capital requirements with robust challenge of business inputs.
- Collaborate with senior management and departmental heads to gather relevant data and assumptions for financial reporting and projections.
- Provide insightful analysis and scenario planning to anticipate potential financial outcomes and mitigate risks.
- Implement best practices and new technologies to improve the efficiency and accuracy of expense tracking and management.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support planning, forecasting, scenario analysis, strategic decision making, capital planning, and rating agency support.
- Engage closely with senior stakeholders across finance, underwriting, actuarial, risk, and operations, providing clear insight, constructive challenge, and credible analysis.
- Ensure all outputs are accurate, timely, fully documented, and suitable for executive, Board, regulatory, and external scrutiny.
Other
- Collaboration and communication with other Finance functions (Tax, Technical Accounting, Financial Accounting, Corporate Controllership) and other departments (Actuarial, Claims, Operations, FP&A) to assist in continuous enhancement of reporting processes.
- Assist with ongoing systems development to build (Board & MI) reporting suite for all regulated entities.
Skills & Competencies
- Qualified accountant, educated to degree standard and with up to 5 years post qualification finance experience.
- Strong understanding of underwriting economics and performance drivers.
- Experience producing executive level management information
Strong financial modelling and analytical capability.
- Sound technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP and IFRS, with IFRS17 experience desirable.
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and providing constructive challenge.
- Strong control mindset and attention to detail.
- High degree of organisation, task planning and time management.
Familiar & capable of working with internal/external reporting deadlines in line with regulatory requirements.
Knowledge & Experience - Essential
- Up to 5 years post Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Advanced level spreadsheet skills and PC literacy
Oracle (EBS).
Reporting Line
- Reporting to the Financial Controller.
- Work alongside the Senior Financial Accountant to support the FinOps process and collaborate with wider finance team.
