What's in it for you
Join a small, close-knit team delivering something that really matters: positive activities for young Gypsies and Travellers, in an environment where they feel respected and valued. You'll help young people improve their health and wellbeing, build stronger relationships with others, take pride in their identity, and develop skills for life and future vocations.
Sessions are delivered from an outreach base supported by a mobile facility (The Chill Out Bus), as well as various locations around Harborough District.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for a youth worker with a positive, enthusiastic attitude towards young people and their families. - Excellent, flexible communication skills with young people and adults from a range of backgrounds
- A willingness to travel to various outreach locations across Harborough District and beyond
- An understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, health & safety and equal opportunities
- A commitment to inclusive, anti-discriminatory practice
Key responsibilities:
- Help plan, organise, deliver and review activities for young Gypsies and Travellers aged 5–16
- Ensure sessions are safe, inclusive and respectful, responding to any risks that arise
- Contribute to risk assessments and report any safety or safeguarding concerns to the Coordinator
- Work in a participatory way, seeking and valuing young people's views
- Record and communicate young people's learning and progress to your line manager
