Vehicle Technician – light vehicle maintenance cars and vans
Must have a valid driving licence
Working for a busy independent tyre and auto centre in Feltham the candidate should have two years minimum experience working with vehicles in some capacity. This experience can be acquired through an intermediate or advanced apprenticeship/certification or also relevant experience. An interest in working with vehicles and a foundation in repair and maintenance is required.
Job description:
- Inspecting vehicles and diagnosing any required work
- Use on-line manuals and schematics to assess the work and parts required
- Performing vehicle maintenance tasks, such as changing oil and air filters, fluids, brakes, track-rod ends, lower arms, bolt-on wheel bearings, exhausts, diagnostics, air conditioning re-gas and leak test
- Fitting and servicing vehicle accessories; tyres, batteries, TPMS, vehicle bulbs, wipers etc. associated with vehicle maintenance.
- Road testing vehicles to test repair work
- Performing service checks
- Update vehicle service records and service lights
- The sales team calculates the expected time, prices the required repairs and discusses this with customer
- However, the mechanic will be asked for his input and may have to speak with the customer.
- Cleaning and maintaining the work environment and tools to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety must be done daily
- Holidays: 20 days holiday and bank holidays, plus 2 days off per month
- Hours: Monday to Friday 7:45am-5:30pm and Saturday 7:45am-2:00pm
- Salary: starting basic salary £30,450 to £32,550 plus bonus, depending on age and experience
Pay: £30,450.00-£32,550.00 per year
