Job Title: Parts & Workshop Controller
Reports to: Business Manager
Purpose of the Role
Responsible for the timely ordering of parts for a busy workshop, containing four technicians. Supporting the generation of quotes. Maintaining a smooth flow of work through the workshop. Ultimately being a key support for the business manager.
This role is central to keeping the workshop organised, productive and operating efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Parts Management
- Source and order parts from approved suppliers.
- Ensure parts are available & correct before work is due to commence.
- Chase outstanding deliveries and resolve supply issues.
- Check deliveries for accuracy and quality.
- Manage warranty returns, supplier credits and returned parts.
- Maintain accurate stock levels of commonly used items.
- Keep the parts store organised and efficient.
Workshop Operations
- Work closely with the Business Manager to ensure work progresses efficiently.
- Monitor vehicle progress and highlight any delays or issues.
- Ensure customer collection times are achieved wherever possible.
- Assist in organising workshop priorities to maximise productivity.
- Help maintain a safe, organised and professional workshop environment.
- Liaise daily with technicians regarding parts requirements. Ensure technicians have the information and resources required to complete repairs efficiently.
- Check vehicles are complete, clean and ready for handover.
Technical Support
- Carry out diagnostic scans using manufacturer and aftermarket diagnostic equipment where appropriate.
- Assist technicians with fault-finding and technical information where required.
Skills & Experience:
Essential
- Experience within the motor trade.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Good computer literacy.
- Ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience in a workshop control or parts department.
- Knowledge of Porsche vehicles.
- Experience using workshop management systems.
