About WCR Group
Established in 1991, WCR Group is a leading South West roofing, cladding and solar contractor. From our Heathfield head office and depots across the region, we deliver projects for national housebuilders, regional developers, commercial clients and bespoke one-off builds.
We are looking for a reliable and organised Yard Person to help keep our Heathfield depot running safely and efficiently. This is a practical, hands-on role supporting our site teams by ensuring materials, equipment and deliveries are ready when needed.
The role
Support the day-to-day running of the depot and maintain a clean, organised and safe yard.
Receive deliveries, check materials against orders and store them correctly.
Pick, prepare and load materials for site deliveries and collections.
Unload and restock materials returned from sites.
Operate forklifts and other yard equipment safely and responsibly.
Carry out stock checks and help maintain accurate inventory records.
Work closely with the buying, contracts and delivery teams to prioritise material requirements.
Open and close the depot and ensure company procedures are followed.
Work from other depots as required
Occasional need to attend site to help deliver or tidy/clear materials using company vehicles.
What we are looking for
A valid, full UK driving licence is essential.
Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, builders' merchant or roofing environment is desirable.
Good product and stock knowledge, or the willingness to learn.
A forklift licence is desirable, although training can be provided.
A practical approach and the ability to lift and handle materials safely in outdoor conditions.
Strong organisation, attention to detail and clear communication skills.
Basic computer skills for stock control and record keeping.
A dependable team player with a positive attitude and a strong commitment to health and safety.
