Current Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Live-in Carer to support a male client based in Steyning.
Essential Requirements
Before applying, please ensure you meet the following criteria:
- Previous professional care experience is essential
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good organisational and time-management abilities
- Availability to attend a 4-day, in-person training course at our Shoreham-by-Sea office
- Confident IT and mobile phone skills, as digital care plans and logging systems are used
About the Role
Typical responsibilities may include:
- Supporting morning and bedtime routines, including hair care
- Preparing meals and hot drinks
- Providing companionship, including shared activities such as watching television
- Assisting with medication
- Supporting with personal care, including pad changes (the client is largely independent)
- Providing reassurance and care for a client living with Alzheimer’s, who may be wary of unfamiliar people
- Night-time support with toileting
- Light housekeeping duties, including laundry and maintaining a tidy environment
- Maintaining accurate care records and communicating any concerns with the office team
- Working collaboratively as part of a small team of carers supporting the client
Hours & Working Pattern
Availability as a lone carer with clients is 22/24 hours with a 2-hour break. When working in a placement with a day and waking night carer, the day hours will be 08:00 to 20:00 with a 2-hour break. Whilst we try to return you to clients you have worked with before this cannot be guaranteed.
For placements with both a day and waking night carer:
- Day shifts typically run from 08:00 to 20:00, including a 2-hour break
Working patterns are tailored to the client’s needs; Long term placement available. We will work closely with you to agree a schedule that suits both you and the client.
