ROLE DESCRIPTION
You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities as a single point of contact, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, optimising freight costs, and ensuring smooth communication between clients, carriers, and internal teams. You will be responsible for retention and development, working alongside colleagues in a similar role and assisting the commercial manager on the procurement of new business to ensure efficient, on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Management:
· Manage daily ocean freight operations, including booking, scheduling, and tracking shipments.
· Coordinate and communicate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customers to ensure smooth end-to-end shipping processes.
· Monitor and manage the performance of carriers and third-party logistics providers to ensure service level agreements are met.
· Ensure timely payments of landing charges with the finance team
Client Relationship Management:
· Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, handling inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining strong relationships.
· Negotiate rates with carriers and secure cost-effective and reliable services.
· Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by proactively managing expectations and providing regular updates.
Compliance and Risk Management:
· Ensure all operations comply with shipping regulations, including customs and trade compliance.
· Monitor and manage risks associated with ocean freight, such as delays, damages, and losses.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
Financial Management:
· Assist in preparing and managing costs
· Monitor operational costs and implement cost-saving measures where applicable.
· Review and approve invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
Reporting and Analysis:
· Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, key metrics, and other relevant data.
· Analyse shipping data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
· Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes by providing insights based on data analysis.
Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
