Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Swimming Teacher to deliver specialised swimming lessons to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that promotes confidence and skill development in water. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on participants’ lives through tailored teaching approaches and compassionate support. The position is paid and requires a genuine passion for teaching and sports coaching within a supportive setting.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver customised swimming lessons tailored to the individual needs of children with SEND, ensuring an inclusive approach.
- Foster a safe, welcoming environment that encourages participation and builds water confidence.
- Assess each participant’s abilities and progress, adjusting teaching methods accordingly.
- Support participants in developing essential swimming skills, including safety awareness and water survival techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and any incidents or concerns.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for each participant.
- Promote positive behaviour management strategies that respect the diverse needs of learners.
- Uphold health and safety standards in all activities, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in swimming teaching, preferably within SEND or special education environments.
- Strong understanding of inclusive teaching methods tailored to children with diverse needs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to motivate and engage learners of varying abilities.
- Compassionate, patient, organised, and adaptable approach to instruction.
- Relevant qualifications in swimming instruction (such as STA or ASA Level 1/2 Swimming Teaching Certificates) are desirable but we can support qualifcations for the right candidate
- A commitment to safeguarding policies and procedures is essential. Must complete a safeguarding course and DBS
Pay: £13.85-£20.00 per hour
