Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Volunteer Charity Shop Manager to oversee daily operations within our community retail environment. This role involves leading a team of volunteers, managing shop activities, and ensuring an excellent customer experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills, organisational ability, and a passion for supporting charitable causes. This unpaid voluntary position offers an opportunity to develop leadership skills whilst making a meaningful contribution to the community.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise volunteer staff, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth shop operations
- Manage daily retail activities including stock organisation, merchandising, and sales transactions
- Oversee customer service standards, ensuring positive interactions and maintaining high levels of satisfaction
- Coordinate volunteer schedules, ensuring adequate coverage during opening hours
- Maintain accurate administrative records related to sales, donations, and volunteer attendance
- Organise promotional activities to increase shop visibility and maximise sales
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the shop environment
- Handle phone enquiries professionally, providing information and assistance as needed
- Foster a welcoming environment that encourages teamwork and volunteer retention
Experience
- Previous management or supervisory experience within retail, charitable or similar environments is highly desirable
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of volunteers
- Strong organisational skills with excellent time management capabilities
- Effective communication skills, including phone etiquette and interpersonal interaction
- Experience in merchandising, sales management, or retail administration is advantageous
- Demonstrated organisational skills with attention to detail in administrative tasks
