Townley House Independent Nursery is looking for someone to lead our small, term-time setting in Bamber Bridge.
This is a management role with a working pattern that is quite different from most nursery positions. You will work Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm, during term time only, with the nursery operating for 38 weeks of the year.
For someone who wants to progress in Early Years while keeping their evenings and school holidays free, this could be a very good opportunity.
A great first step into management
You do not need to have been a Nursery Manager before.
We are happy to consider an experienced Level 3 practitioner, Room Leader or Deputy who is organised, confident and feels ready to take on more responsibility.
Townley House is a particularly good setting in which to make that step. We have a maximum capacity of just 22 children aged 2 to 4, all within one space.
You will have responsibility for your own nursery, but without suddenly finding yourself managing a large multi-room setting with dozens of staff and 80 or 100 children.
It is a hands-on role. You will know the children, work alongside your team and be involved in the room each day.
You will also have support from our family and the wider nursery group, so you will have experienced people around you while you find your feet as a Manager.
The role
As Nursery Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of Townley House.
Your role will include:
- Leading and supporting the nursery team
- Working hands-on with the children as part of the room
- Maintaining a high standard of care and Early Years practice
- Taking responsibility for safeguarding within the setting
- Making sure the nursery meets EYFS and Ofsted requirements
- Supporting planning, observations and children's development
- Building good relationships with parents and families
- Organising staffing and the day-to-day running of the nursery
- Keeping the setting safe, organised and welcoming
- Supporting and developing members of your team
- Working closely with our wider nursery group and management team
We are looking for someone who wants to lead the nursery while still being part of nursery life, rather than spending their day behind an office door.
Who we are looking for
You must hold a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.
Previous management experience would be useful, but it is not essential.
You may currently be working as a:
- Deputy Nursery Manager
- Room Leader
- Senior Early Years Practitioner
- Experienced Level 3 Practitioner who is ready for more responsibility
We are looking for someone who is organised, dependable and passionate about Early Years.
You should be confident working with a team, communicating with parents and making day-to-day decisions. You will also need a good understanding of safeguarding and the EYFS.
You do not need to know everything about running a nursery on your first day. We can support you with the management side of the role. What matters is that you have good Early Years experience, the right attitude and the confidence to learn.
Term-time working
One of the biggest benefits of this position is the working pattern.
The nursery operates for 38 weeks of the year, and your normal hours will be:
Monday to Friday
9:00am to 3:00pm
This means no early nursery starts, no 6pm finishes and no normal working throughout the school holidays.
For someone who wants to progress into management while keeping a better balance outside work, this role offers something quite different from a typical full-time Nursery Manager position.
Pay and benefits
- £14.00 to £15.00 per hour, depending on experience
