We are looking for somebody to work with a brain injured person (Client) who is undertaking one of our rehabilitation programmes.
HOW IT WORKS
|reach| are responsible for providing rehabilitation for clients who have suffered an acquired brain injury, typically from a car accident or work place injury. The rehabilitation programme takes place in the client’s home and local community. Your role is to encourage the client to work on the tasks and goals identified by the Reach Neuro-Occupational Therapist which will help the client improve their quality of life.
HOURS
6 - 10 hours input a week across 3 sessions depending on the client's progress. There will be weekly supervision, regular opportunities for joint working with the Neuro-OT with agreed attendance at MDTs (Multi Disciplinary Meetings) to allow for learning from the team.
Training will be provided by the Neuro-OT and the psychologist. The expectation is for 6 months minimum of work subject to the approval of funding.
SALARY
From £14.00 per hour plus holiday pay of 12.07%, and travel allowance
DUTIES
- To help restore the client to the best possible quality of life in the areas covered by the rehabilitation plan.
- Encourage the client to practice/ undertake various activities - typical activities are teaching memory strategies, relearning household tasks, rediscovering leisure activities or preparing to return to work.
- Comply with the precise specifications set-out by the plan.
- Keep daily records.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality.
A background working with people with a disability, in a care setting, in clinical, sports or vocational rehabilitation, or in education is desirable particularly experience with neuro- rehabilitation/ FND (Functional Neurological Disorder) and anxiety management, however people with the right aptitude to assist other people in a professional way will be considered – your work will be supervised and guided on a weekly basis by a Neuro-Occupational Therapist (virtually or in person) who designs the rehabilitation programme and will deliver the goals of the programme on a 1:1 basis with the client.

DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Proven experience or background in one-to-one support or care settings
- Previous experience or knowledge of working with a client with a brain injury, mental health issues.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to prioritise.
- Able to use initiative.
- Full driving license and access to a personal vehicle.
