Mithai Chef Desi Sweets and Bakery
We are looking for a skilled Mithai Chef Head Chef to lead our kitchen and bring authentic South Asian sweets and bakery creations to life. This role suits a culinary leader who combines deep knowledge of traditional recipes with modern bakery techniques, strong team management, and a commitment to consistent quality and food safety. You will shape our menu, mentor the kitchen team, and ensure every product reflects our passion for flavour and craft.
Key responsibilities
- Lead production of a wide range of Desi sweets and bakery items, ensuring authenticity, consistency, and excellent presentation.
- Manage daily kitchen operations including planning, production scheduling, and quality control.
- Train and supervise staff to build a collaborative, high-performing team.
- Maintain food safety and hygiene to meet regulatory and company standards.
- Develop new recipes and seasonal ranges that balance tradition with innovation.
- Control inventory and ordering to minimise waste while maintaining freshness.
- Keep the kitchen organised and clean and support front-of-house coordination for smooth service.
- Represent the brand by delivering hospitality standards and occasional customer engagement.
Candidate profile and qualifications
- Proven experience in producing Indian sweets or bakery products.
- Previous supervisory or head chef experience in a busy kitchen environment.
- Strong technical skills in pastry and confectionery production.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development abilities.
- Solid knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and compliance.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
- A genuine passion for South Asian cuisine and a creative approach to recipe development.
- Hospitality or catering background preferred.
