Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Night Care Assistant to provide high-quality care and support during overnight hours. This role is ideal for individuals who are dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing of residents in a care home setting or delivering home care services. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring residents' safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the night. Flexibility, excellent communication skills, and a caring attitude are essential for this position.
Duties
- Monitor residents' well-being throughout the night, responding promptly to their needs and emergencies
- Assist with personal care tasks such as toileting, repositioning, and hygiene support in accordance with care plans
- Record observations and any incidents accurately in residents’ records using IT systems
- Ensure the safety and security of the premises during night hours by conducting regular checks
- Support residents with mobility issues or those requiring assistance to get in or out of bed
- Administer medication as prescribed, following strict protocols and documentation procedures
- Communicate effectively with team members, residents, and their families to ensure seamless care delivery
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all residents
Skills
- Previous experience working within a care home or providing home care is desirable
- Driving licence is advantageous for roles involving community visits or transporting residents
- Knowledge of care plans and ability to follow detailed instructions accurately
- Good IT skills for recording data and updating resident records efficiently
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with residents and colleagues
- Compassionate nature with strong organisational skills to manage night-time routines effectively
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond swiftly to emergencies or urgent situations
