Job Summary
Core Objective
The Systems Engineer will have a strong background in electronics and mechanics to support our Permeation product range specifically in system design, integration, and reliability. In this role you will create and improve system designs, troubleshoot issues on existing products, manage engineering change, and support future New Product Introductions (NPI). The products include the manufacture of an electromechanical assembly with electrochemical & Rhodium Moisture sensors.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in designing and testing Instrumentation with complex electro-mechanical subsystems and final product assemblies. Experience in testing Instrumentation within the material properties, gas processing industries or similar would be ideal. Needs to have exceptional practical knowledge on PCB’s, wiring, fuses, switches, heaters, plumbing and motors to support and troubleshoot electronics to a component level. Experience of using software to analyse data, read electronic schematics and diagnose faults based on system performance. This role will also support all aspects of technical support for permeation within the business. Some key aspects of this role will be to understand competitor products and generate ideas for new features or customer needs to feed into product roadmaps, support the Service team with customer issues including direct tech support and delivering training. Work you’re your peers in the engineering team to improve designs, work on the road map for future and new product releases. Work with production to improve quality, manufacturing efficiencies and achieve customer delivery requirements.
Responsibilities
The key requirements to this role will be:
· Identifying improvements within existing products to improve reliability, efficiency and reduce costs.
· Designing, testing, and assembling electro-mechanical system integrations.
· Developing automated test systems to monitor performance of our instrumentation
· Troubleshooting hardware and electronic faults in production units and future NPI.
· Developing technical documentation such as project requirements specifications, design files, test reports and engineering change notes.
· New product development as part of the R&D/Engineering team; developing new innovative concepts for future products.
· Product Design evaluation, prototyping and testing.
· Work with manufacturing on quality improvements and build / test efficiencies, including documentation management.
Supporting Production with improvements through the Engineering Change Note (ECN) process
· Delivery of new products on time and in line with NPI road map
· Projects completed on time.
· No health and safety issues
· Document control accurate and maintained.
· Version control managed
Qualifications and Experience
· Graduate or above in Electro-Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
· Experience in working with Electro-Mechanical instrumentation and their troubleshooting. Testing Instrumentation within the material properties, gas processing industries or similar.
· Digital and analogue electronics design using KiCAD – Ideal but not essential.
· Experience with embedded electronics (I2C, SPI, MCU) – Ideal but not essential
· Broad experience of industrial design and mechanical manufacturing environments, equipment, and work practice
· EMC/LVD testing for CE marking would be beneficial.
