Breakdown Service Van Mechanic / Mobile Mechanic
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and motivated Breakdown Service Van Mechanic / Mobile Mechanic to join our team.
This is a mobile role attending vehicle breakdowns and helping customers get back on the road. We’re looking for someone who is confident working independently, has good mechanical and fault-finding skills, and can provide a professional and friendly service to our customers.
Pay & Working Pattern
- £15.00 per hour
- Overtime paid at £22.50 per hour
- 12 days on / 2 days off
- On call every other night
- One weekend on call
- Additional £20 payment for every night you are on call, paid on top of your normal wages
- Additional £25 per day for weekend on-call duties
- Overtime opportunities available
The Role
Your duties will include:
- Attending vehicle breakdowns and roadside call-outs
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Carrying out roadside repairs wherever possible
- Battery testing, replacement and jump starts
- Assisting with non-starting vehicles
- Carrying out basic mechanical repairs
- Providing roadside assistance in a safe and professional manner
- Keeping the service van, tools and equipment clean and well maintained
- Completing job information accurately
- Keeping customers informed and providing excellent customer service
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a mechanic, mobile mechanic or breakdown technician
- Good mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- A full UK driving licence
- Your own standard mechanic’s hand tools
- The confidence to work independently and use your own initiative
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Good timekeeping and reliability
- The ability to work safely at the roadside
- Flexibility to work the required rota and on-call shifts
Relevant motor vehicle qualifications would be an advantage, although we are also happy to consider applicants with strong hands-on mechanical experience.
