SEN Lecturer – Southwark
Hours: 8:45am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday

A specialist SEN College in Southwark is seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Lecturer to join their team. The college supports learners aged 16–25 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), and a range of complex needs. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by delivering personalised learning programmes that help students develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging lessons tailored to learners with ASD, PMLD and complex needs.
- Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and contribute to EHCP reviews.
- Create and maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
- Use sensory-based, therapeutic and assistive communication approaches to enhance engagement.
- Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff and families.
- Lead and mentor Learning Support Assistants to promote high-quality practice.
Requirements
- QTS, QTLS, PGCE, DTLLS, or another recognised FE teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- Experience teaching or supporting learners with ASD, PMLD or complex needs (Post-16 or FE experience preferred).
- Knowledge of communication systems such as Makaton, PECS or AAC.
- Strong behaviour management and organisational skills.
- A caring, resilient and creative approach with a genuine passion for SEN education.
