Joinery Estimator

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Joinery Estimator to join our clients dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in pricing and securing bespoke joinery packages ranging from £50,000 to £2 million. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects and contribute to the growth of our company.

Key Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of joinery estimation experience
Proficiency in pricing and securing bespoke joinery packages valued between £50,000 and £2 million
Strong understanding of joinery materials, techniques, and industry standards
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Responsibilities

Project Estimation

Analyse project specifications, drawings, and requirements to develop accurate cost estimates for bespoke joinery packages
Calculate material quantities, labor costs, and overhead expenses for each project
Prepare detailed estimates, including breakdowns of costs for materials, labor, and subcontractors
Identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or project requirements
Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and gather additional information when necessary
Collaborate with project managers, designers, and other team members to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates

Bid Preparation and Submission

Prepare and submit competitive bids for joinery projects, ensuring all required documentation is included
Review and analyze tender documents, identifying any potential risks or opportunities
Develop pricing strategies to maximize the company's chances of securing contracts
Participate in pre-bid meetings and respond to client inquiries regarding estimates and proposals
Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best possible prices for materials and services

Project Management Support

Provide ongoing support to project managers throughout the project lifecycle
Monitor project costs and compare them to initial estimates, identifying and reporting any discrepancies
Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines
Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely ordering of materials and services
Participate in project review meetings and contribute to problem-solving efforts

Continuous Improvement

Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new materials, and innovative joinery techniques
Maintain a database of historical project data to improve future estimation accuracy
Analyse completed projects to identify areas for improvement in the estimation process
Develop and implement standardized estimation procedures and templates
Provide training and mentorship to junior estimators as needed
