Dear Prospective Candidate,

Inclusion is a process through which all pupils access common opportunities in ways relevant to their needs, and which ensures that they fully belong to the school community. Inclusion requires the active involvement of all concerned. Schools continue to adapt their organisation and their ways of responding to both meet the needs and value the development of all children and young people in all areas of school life.
We are seeking an individual with significant expertise in working with children and young people with complex social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Other key attributes include a strong understanding of effective safeguarding, attendance, and inclusion strategies obtained at senior leadership level in a school setting. You will be a collaborative practitioner with experience in leadership, significant experience of education inclusion along with the linked experience of leading approaches in positive and inclusive ALN practice to support learners at whole school level. You will be able to evidence how your inclusion work has improved outcomes for learners in education settings.
You will be supported by a supportive and talented inclusion team at the Authority. The Assistant Headteacher will play a crucial role in supporting learner engagement in our CAC / PRU setting to ensure that every young person has access to the education and support they need through strategic work in the sector.
We pride ourselves on being an excellent employer with a strong team culture. Our values - caring about what we do, being fair, innovative, and great team players - guide everything we do. We continue to modernise, seek new opportunities, and respond proactively to the challenges we face.
We are a bilingual authority with immense pride in our Welsh heritage, supported by a fantastic Welsh language learning and translation offer. We are seeking someone who will thrive within a culture focussed on inclusion, inspiring teams, and driving forward meaningful, people-focused change.
