Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our reputable care home. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a genuine passion for providing exceptional care to our residents. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of elderly individuals, supporting their independence and wellbeing. The Senior Care Assistant will be responsible for supervising care staff, implementing and reviewing personalised care plans, and ensuring high standards of service are maintained at all times.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of care assistants, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality care
- Assist residents with daily activities such as personal hygiene, mobility, and nutrition in accordance with their individual care plans
- Develop, review, and update personalised care plans in collaboration with residents, their families, and healthcare professionals
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, recognising any changes that may require medical attention or intervention
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in compliance with regulatory standards
- Foster effective communication within the team and with residents’ families to promote transparency and trust
- Organise and attend training sessions and supervise staff to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations
- Support residents in engaging with social activities and community involvement to enhance their quality of life
- Utilise IT systems for record keeping, communication, and care planning purposes
- Drive organisational initiatives aimed at continuous improvement of care standards
- Administering medication, including keeping a meticulous record.
- Communicating with multi disciplinary teams
- Lead by example to promote a positive and good working environment for the care team
Qualifications / Requirements
- Previous supervisory or supervising experience within a care home or senior care setting is essential
- Meet requirements of qualifications for supervisor in a care home that adhere to SSSC registration conditions - 1. Practice / 2. Supervisory qualification / You may also have one qualification that meets both requirements
- Strong leadership skills coupled with excellent communication abilities
- Knowledge of care plans, health & safety regulations, and regulatory compliance standards
- Competent IT skills for managing electronic records and documentation
- Experience working within a senior care environment is highly advantageous
- Compassionate approach with the ability to motivate and support team members effectively
