Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. Jam Jar is an independent bar on Osborne Road in Jesmond with a strong selection of good scran. The position reports directly to the Head Chef. The successful candidate would have the flexibility to be creative with dishes and special menus, as well as contributing to annual menu changes.
An ideal candidate must be able to thrive under the pressure of peak service and capitalise on the lulls to ensure an efficient and smooth service. Candidates would be required to work in the kitchen with a level of competency running both the grill and pass.
In addition to the restaurant the company also runs a series of events with its catering trailers. Training and support is available for the right candidate and further opportunities to progress within the company are available, however a minimum 2 years’ kitchen experience is preferred. This is a great opportunity for anyone seeking a new challenge.
The idea candidate would have:
- Previous kitchen experience
- Experience in stock control
- Good people skills
- Experience in making and developing dishes
- A can do attitude
We would be looking for someone to start as soon as possible
Hours: 30+
Pay: Starting from £13
Shift pattern: 4-5 days out of 7, earliest start 9:30am, latest finish 10.30pm
Must be available to work weekends.
