Master Technician / Diagnostic Technician
Location: Volvo Cars Shrewsbury
Role Purpose
As a Volvo Master Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out advanced diagnostic, repair and maintenance work on Volvo vehicles to the highest manufacturer standards.
You will act as a technical expert within the workshop, supporting fellow technicians, ensuring first-time fix performance and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose complex vehicle faults using Volvo diagnostic systems and technical resources.
Carry out repairs, servicing and maintenance in accordance with Volvo manufacturer standards.
Complete electrical, mechanical and software-related diagnostics and repairs. Support workshop colleagues with technical guidance and fault-finding assistance.
Perform quality control inspections to ensure repairs meet Volvo standards.
Complete vehicle health checks accurately and identify additional work requirements.
Ensure all warranty repairs are completed in line with Volvo warranty procedures.
Maintain accurate job card records and technical reports.
Participate in Volvo technical training programmes and maintain Master Technician accreditation.
Assist with mentoring apprentices and developing junior technicians.
Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and workshop procedures.
Contribute to workshop efficiency, productivity and customer satisfaction targets.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
Qualified Vehicle Technician (Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent).
Current Volvo Master Technician accreditation or equivalent manufacturer Master Technician status.
Extensive experience diagnosing and repairing modern vehicles.
Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, diagnostics and software updates.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
MOT Tester qualification.
Electric Vehicle (EV) and Hybrid Vehicle qualifications.
Experience working within a Dealership environment.
