Sheet Metal Worker / Press Brake Operator
Location: Near Chelmsford, Essex
Salary: Up to £18.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours: Day Shift, Monday to Friday

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Worker / Press Brake Operator to join our client's growing manufacturing team. This is a permanent day shift position offering excellent long-term prospects for someone with a strong background in sheet metal fabrication and CNC press brake operation.
Working from engineering drawings, you will manufacture high-quality sheet metal components to customer specifications while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC press brake machines.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Manufacture sheet metal components to tight tolerances.
- Select appropriate tooling and carry out machine set-ups.
- Perform first-off and in-process quality inspections using measuring equipment.
- Support other sheet metal fabrication duties, including deburring, assembly and laser cutting where required.
- Ensure work is completed safely, accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience operating and setting CNC press brake machines.
- Background in sheet metal fabrication or precision engineering.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, calipers and gauges.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Amada, Bystronic, Trumpf or similar press brake machinery.
- Laser cutting or fabrication experience.
- Forklift licence (advantageous but not essential).
