Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable General Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting daily operations within a supported living environment, ensuring smooth service delivery and maintaining high standards of food safety and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and housekeeping, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Responsibilities
- Assisting with food preparation tasks, including basic cooking and plating
- Serving customers in a courteous and professional manner
- Ensuring food safety standards are maintained at all times
- Managing the organisation of kitchen and dining areas to ensure cleanliness and efficiency
- Restocking supplies and assisting with inventory management
- Contributing to a positive team environment by maintaining a friendly attitude
- Residents feel comfortable and happy with all areas of the House feeling clean, fresh and welcoming.
- Residents receive nutritious and balanced meals.
- Be a part of an effective team and contribute as a valued and approachable team member.
- Support the reputation of Abbeyfield by your contribution to a happy environment and SFBB and COSHH compliant processes and procedures.
- Work in a way that is in line with all of your personal objectives and to contribute to achievement of the homes overall objectives as stated in the ‘Our Service Standards’ document.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock management
- Experience in food preparation or culinary roles is advantageous
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Willingness to learn new skills such as upselling techniques and kitchen procedures
- This role is suitable for individuals eager to develop their career in housing, offering valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic setting.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
