We’re looking for someone to join our small, friendly team at Marcus Tempus — an independent jewellery and watch shop with our own on-site watch, clock and jewellery workshops.
This isn’t a typical high-street retail role. One minute you might be helping someone choose a watch or piece of jewellery, the next you could be booking in a vintage watch for restoration, helping a customer with a jewellery repair, photographing a new arrival for Instagram, or learning about a gemstone you’ve never come across before.
What you’ll be doing
- Helping customers choose watches and jewellery
- Providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service
- Booking in watch, clock and jewellery repairs
- Taking customer details and keeping repair records organised
- Handling general shop administration and enquiries
- Learning about our jewellery, gemstones, watches and workshop services
- Keeping displays looking their best
- Helping with new stock and product photography
- If it’s something you enjoy, helping us create photos, videos and ideas for our social media
Who we’re looking for
You don’t need to know everything about watches or jewellery already — genuine interest and willingness to learn are more important to us.
We’d love to meet someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in watches, jewellery, gemstones or luxury products
- Enjoys talking to people and can make customers feel comfortable
- Is confident, friendly and reliable
- Has good attention to detail
- Is comfortable with basic computer and admin work
- Is curious and enjoys learning
- Has some natural sales ability without being pushy
- Can work well as part of a small team
Retail, jewellery or watch experience would be useful, but isn’t essential for the right person.

We’re also looking to put more personality into our social media, so if you enjoy photography, Instagram, TikTok, Reels or creating content, we’d love to hear about it.

About Marcus Tempus
Established in 1984, Marcus Tempus is an independent jewellery and watch specialist in East Barnet. Alongside our retail collections, we have specialist workshops for watch, clock and jewellery repairs and restoration.
We’re particularly known for colourful gemstone jewellery, interesting watches and the kind of pieces you don’t necessarily find everywhere else.
We’re a small business, so we’re looking for someone who wants to become a genuine part of the team rather than simply fill a position.
