Job Role: EYFS Teaching Assistant
Location: Whitehaven and surrounding areas
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Temporary, Term Time Only
Pay Rate: £14.25 - £18.35 per hour (dependant on experience & qualifications)
We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistants to support children within primary school settings in Whitehaven and the surrounding areas.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a genuine passion for working with young children and understands the importance of creating a safe, engaging and nurturing environment during the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Job Description:
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and school staff to support children with their learning, development and wellbeing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting children across the EYFS curriculum through engaging learning activities.
- Working alongside the class teacher to provide high-quality support.
- Supporting children’s social, emotional and educational development.
- Helping to create a stimulating, safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Supporting children with their communication, language and physical development.
- Encouraging children’s independence and confidence.
- Assisting with classroom activities, displays and resources.
- Supporting children during structured activities, play and outdoor learning.
- Building positive relationships with children and helping them to feel settled and supported.
- Following school policies and safeguarding procedures.
Must Have:
- Professional experience working with children.
- Good knowledge and understanding of the EYFS curriculum.
- A genuine passion for supporting young children and their development.
- A patient, caring and nurturing approach.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Right to Work in the UK.
- A valid Enhanced DBS for Child Workforce on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
- Ability to reliably commute to schools in Whitehaven and the surrounding areas.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working within an EYFS or primary school setting.
- A relevant qualification in Early Years, Childcare, Education or a related subject.
- Experience supporting children with SEND.
- Knowledge of phonics and early reading.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Experience supporting children’s speech, language and communication development.
- Understanding of safeguarding within an educational setting.
