The Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Train Maintainer to join our Rolling Stock team at Beckton Depot.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining the DLR fleet, ensuring our Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) and engineering vehicles remain safe, reliable and available for service.
Working within a safety-critical environment, you will undertake planned maintenance, modifications, fault finding and repair activities while contributing to the ongoing performance and reliability of one of London's most important transport networks.
Please note this is a permanent nights role.
What You'll Do

Carry out routine maintenance, inspections and modifications on DLR rolling stock.

Complete preventative and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with technical instructions and safety procedures.

Diagnose faults and support effective resolution of rolling stock defects.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and update asset management systems.

Operate depot plant and equipment safely and efficiently.

Carry out train movements within depot confines and, when authorised, on the mainline for testing and validation purposes.

Assist with commissioning activities for new and existing rolling stock systems.

Support the development of apprentices and new colleagues through job familiarisation and knowledge sharing.

Help maintain a clean, safe and efficient depot environment.
What You'll Need
Essential
-
City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 (or higher) in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience working within a maintenance environment.

Strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.

Ability to interpret technical instructions and follow maintenance procedures.

Good communication and teamwork skills.
-
Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively within a shift environment.

Willingness to work rostered day and night shifts.
Desirable
-
Railway rolling stock maintenance experience.
-
Experience using maintenance management systems such as Maximo.
-
Experience working in a safety-critical engineering environment.
-
Knowledge of fault-finding and diagnostic techniques.
