About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-focused Quality Assurance Assistant to join our Quality team at March Foods.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day delivery of site quality, food safety, compliance and customer requirements across manufacturing, intake, despatch and support areas. Working closely with Production, Engineering, Warehouse and QA teams, you will help maintain high standards of food safety, product quality and audit readiness throughout the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine quality checks, inspections and product testing to ensure product standards are maintained.
- Monitor production processes for compliance with food safety, legal and customer requirements.
- Promote and support GMP, hygiene, allergen control and food safety standards across site.
- Complete product testing including taste, pH, Brix, alcohol and specific gravity testing where required.
- Conduct GMP audits, glass audits, intake and despatch checks.
- Support environmental monitoring, retained sample management and customer sample requirements.
- Complete scale checks, equipment calibration checks and routine site monitoring activities.
- Monitor hygiene standards, cleaning verification and production start-up checks.
- Review temperature monitoring systems and action notifications as required.
- Maintain accurate quality records, WMS releases, Webtrieve entries and supporting documentation.
- Raise and investigate non-conformances, supporting corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with annual validation activities including metal detection, allergen controls and other food safety systems.
- Support internal, customer and third-party audit preparation and compliance activities.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and quality control procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow procedures and work instructions accurately.
- Accurate record-keeping and documentation skills.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel and data entry systems.
Desirable
- HACCP Level 2 or Level 3.
- Food Safety Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.
- GMP training.
- Experience within a food manufacturing or quality assurance environment.
- Internal audit experience or training.
- Knowledge of BRCGS or other food safety management systems.
- Experience of quality management systems, WMS or related software.
