We are seeking a talented Machine Learning Engineer with a strong background in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to support the development of next-generation sensing, detection, classification, and autonomous decision-making systems.
The Role
The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of machine learning algorithms for processing real-world sensor and communications data. Projects may involve RF spectrum monitoring, electronic warfare, radar, acoustic sensing, electro-optical systems, autonomous platforms, and edge AI applications.
You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists to develop algorithms that operate under challenging real-world conditions and on resource-constrained embedded platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement machine learning and signal processing algorithms for detection, classification, tracking, and anomaly detection.
- Develop and evaluate AI/ML models using real-world and simulated sensor datasets.
- Perform signal analysis in time, frequency, and time-frequency domains.
- Develop DSP pipelines for RF, radar, communications, acoustic, and imaging systems.
- Optimize algorithms for deployment on embedded and edge computing platforms.
- Support data collection, dataset generation, labeling, validation, and performance assessment activities.
- Conduct algorithm testing, verification, and validation activities.
- Contribute to technical reports, project documentation, customer presentations, and proposal development.
- Collaborate with software, electronics, RF, and systems engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of Digital Signal Processing principles.
- Experience developing machine learning models using Python.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar.
- Knowledge of statistical signal processing and feature extraction techniques.
- Experience analyzing complex datasets and evaluating algorithm performance.
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in written and verbal form.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK security clearance.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with RF signal processing, spectrum analysis, radar, communications, or electronic warfare systems.
- Experience with deep learning for sensor data analysis.
- Knowledge of CNNs, RNNs, Transformers, and modern machine learning architectures.
- Experience with embedded AI deployment on ARM, NVIDIA Jetson, FPGA, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with GNU Radio, MATLAB, Simulink, or SDR platforms.
- Experience with time-series analysis and anomaly detection.
- Knowledge of sensor fusion and multi-modal machine learning.
- Experience working on defence, aerospace, security, or government-funded R&D projects.
- Understanding of MLOps, model optimization, and deployment workflows.
