We are looking for an experienced and results-driven International Procurement Manager to lead our global sourcing and supplier management activities across Africa.
Role Overview
As the International Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, sourcing, and managing suppliers across African countries while ensuring product quality, competitive pricing, regulatory compliance, and reliable supply. You will work closely with logistics, warehouse, marketing, and sales teams to ensure products are available to meet customer demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Source high-quality food and consumer products from manufacturers and suppliers across Africa.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, exporters, manufacturers, and distributors.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, and delivery schedules.
- Identify new products and suppliers to expand the company's product range.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with international import/export regulations, food safety standards, and product certification requirements.
- Coordinate procurement activities with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics providers.
- Manage inventory planning in collaboration with operations and sales teams.
- Conduct supplier audits and quality assurance checks where required.
- Analyse market trends, commodity pricing, and supply risks.
- Prepare procurement reports, budgets, and cost-saving recommendations.
- Resolve supplier issues relating to quality, delivery, or contractual obligations.
- Support the launch of new product lines and seasonal promotions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, International Trade, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in international procurement or sourcing.
- Experience procuring food products, FMCG, or consumer goods is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of international trade, import/export documentation, customs procedures, and Incoterms.
- Proven negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Experience working with suppliers across multiple African countries is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and commercial decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement or ERP systems.
- Ability to travel internationally when required.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, ISO, BRC, etc.).
- Experience in e-commerce or online retail.
- Understanding of international shipping and freight management.
- Multilingual skills are an advantage.
