JOB SUMMARY
The Facilities Support is a primarily hands-on role responsible for supporting the day-to-day operational maintenance and upkeep of facilities across the organisation’s sites (Gloucester and Cheltenham).
The role also includes a smaller administrative and coordination element, involving basic facilities administration and support for health and safety compliance activities. The Facilities Support will need to be IT literate and comfortable using IT equipment and systems.
This role requires a physically fit individual who is comfortable carrying out manual and operational tasks throughout the working day.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Practical completion of maintenance tasks.
- To carry out repairs as required for our buildings across Gloucester and Cheltenham (furniture; replacing bulbs); basic plumbing (including changing taps, replacing toilets, unblocking sinks, drains etc); minor electrical repairs (i.e. call bells, fuses, sockets); decorating, refurbishing and upkeep of rooms).
- Ensure facilities are maintained day to day alongside the Facilities Assistant.
- Maintain the garden and outside spaces of each building.
- Prepare facilities for seasonal changes.
- Carry out weekly, monthly & bi-annual compliance checks in line with Government guidelines and legislation.
- Maintain health and safety across all our sites ensuring maintenance of all equipment and buildings.
- PAT testing (training will be provided if required).
- Assisting with Deliveries and Goods In / Out.
- Maintain our fleet of vehicles ensuring of a good safe condition.
- Identify appropriate new facilities for YG to purchase or rent to support the growth of our services.
- Liaise with our IT provider to ensure that the IT requirements of the charity are met, and we are proactive in management rather than reactive.
- Implement software to monitor maintenance and vehicle requirements.
- Provide regular supervision and support the Facilities Assistant.
- To ensure a high-quality service is always delivered for young people by your team and wider staff.
- Work within budgets as agreed with the line manager.

- Ensure servicing and maintenance of equipment as appropriate to your role.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
The following are the criteria that will be used for shortlisting:
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- A relevant qualification in facilities: IOSH / NEBOSH or willingness to work towards these qualifications.
- Experience of working to develop facilities and maintenance.
- Experience in managing a budget.
- Experience in planning, organising and completing facilities management.
- Experience of managing health and safety including completing risk assessments
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with people at all levels.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Effective time management, including the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload.
- The ability to work on own initiative and to an agreed action plan.
- Basic IT skills including experience of Microsoft Office programmes and databases.

- Driving license and willingness to drive YG people carriers and vans.
