Job Title: Safer Recruitment Assistant
Location: Chester with some travel to our Preston Office

We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and organised Safer Recruitment Assistant to join our dedicated recruitment team.
In this vital role, you will act as a key gatekeeper for our onboarding process. You will ensure that every new colleague joining our team meets the highest standards of safer recruitment compliance, regulatory requirements, and organisational standards before they begin their journey with us.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance Checks: Manage and track all pre-employment checks, including Enhanced DBS applications, right-to-work verifications, qualification checks, gaps in employment and international clearance where required
- Reference Management: Request, evaluate, and verify employment and personal references in line with safer recruitment guidelines
- Database & File Auditing: Maintain accurate, up-to-date compliance trackers and personnel files on our Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring 100% audit readiness at all times
- Candidate Communication: Guide successful candidates smoothly through the pre-employment screening stage, serving as an approachable point of contact for onboarding queries
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with hiring managers and the recruitment team to provide regular updates on candidate compliance status and clear candidates for start dates
- Reporting: Identify potential compliance risks or bottlenecks in the onboarding pipeline and escalate them appropriately to ensure timely resolution
Requirements:
- Experience completing Safer Recruitment checks
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Ofsted or CQC is highly desirable
- Meticulous approach to documentation, data accuracy, and spotting discrepancies
- Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), MS Excel, and digital compliance tracking systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional, empathetic candidate approach
- Ability to prioritise high-volume workloads in a fast-paced environment while upholding strict compliance standards
