Job Description:
Groomer London is looking for an EXPERIENCED, friendly, and professional Groomer Assistant to join our busy salon team. We are looking for someone calm, patient, hardworking, and genuinely passionate about animal welfare, with the confidence to work to a high standard in a fast-paced grooming environment.
This role is ideal for a person who understands the importance of both excellent pet care and exceptional salon standards. You will play an important part in preparing dogs for their groom, supporting the groomers throughout the day, helping pets feel safe and comfortable, and ensuring the salon remains clean, organised, and welcoming at all times.
Experience working with cats and dog teeth cleaning is highly desirable, although training can be provided where needed.
Key responsibilities
- Fully preparing dogs before grooming appointments
- Washing and blow-drying dogs to a high standard
- Brushing coats thoroughly and carrying out safe de-matting where appropriate
- Nail trimming
- Ear cleaning
- Assisting groomers with handling and supporting pets during grooming when needed
- Ensuring pets are cared for with patience, gentleness, and attention at all times
- Maintaining high hygiene, cleanliness, and presentation standards throughout the salon
- Cleaning and sanitising tools, equipment, bathing areas, tables, and work stations
- Keeping the salon tidy, organised, and running smoothly throughout the day
- Supporting the team in a busy working environment
- Reporting any concerns about a dog’s coat, skin, health, or behaviour to the groomer or manager
What we are looking for
- Previous experience in a grooming salon or similar animal care role
- A calm, kind, and patient approach with animals
- Confidence handling dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments
- Knowledge of coat preparation and de-matting techniques
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work efficiently in a busy salon
- A professional, reliable, and team-oriented attitude
- High standards of cleanliness, organisation, and attention to detail
- Willingness to support groomers and contribute to the smooth running of the salon
Desirable
- Experience working with cats
- Experience with dog teeth cleaning
Training can be provided for the right candidate, but we are looking for someone with the right attitude, relevant experience, and a genuine passion for delivering a high standard of care.
