Duties
- Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging activities that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific programs
- Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to develop personalized activity plans that support residents’ physical, emotional, and social well-being
- Organize special events, outings, recreational therapies, and therapeutic activities aligned with residents’ preferences and health conditions
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as mobility exercises or social interactions to promote independence and engagement
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of programs while accommodating individual care routines
- Maintain accurate records of participation, progress notes, and activity outcomes for each resident
- Foster a positive community environment by encouraging participation and building meaningful relationships among residents
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy or senior activity coordination within assisted living or nursing home settings
- Strong understanding of aging issues, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care techniques, and long-term care practices
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents with diverse needs including those with disabilities or cognitive impairments
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs and provide compassionate caregiving support when needed
- Skilled in schedule management to balance multiple activities while maintaining flexibility for individual resident needs
- Knowledge of aging-related counseling techniques and social work principles to promote emotional well-being
- Creative problem-solving skills combined with a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through engaging activities
