The Opportunity
Anthem Music School is looking for a confident, friendly and engaging Guitar Tutor to join our growing teaching team.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with children, brings plenty of energy to their teaching and wants to become a consistent part of the Anthem team.
The role will begin at approximately 8 teaching hours per week, with a clear opportunity to grow to around 14 hours per week for the right person as our student numbers continue to increase.
Current Teaching Availability
Teaching will initially be across:
- Monday evenings
- Thursday evenings
- Saturday daytime
There is also the opportunity to take on approximately 2 additional hours of daytime teaching within one of our partner schools each week, if this is of interest.
We’re particularly keen to hear from tutors who would like to build a larger, regular teaching schedule with us over time.
Pay Scale
Tutors start from £18 per hour, depending on experience, with regular reviews and a progression pathway up to £25 per hour.
About the Role
You will primarily deliver engaging small-group guitar lessons to children and young people.
Anthem provides structured lesson frameworks, song resources and teaching materials, allowing you to concentrate on delivering brilliant lessons and helping students make progress.
Our approach is fun and performance-focused. Students work towards developing their musical skills, confidence and ability to play with others, with regular opportunities to perform at Anthem shows and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and well-structured small-group guitar lessons
- Demonstrate songs, riffs and techniques clearly for students
- Follow Anthem's lesson framework while adapting to individual students where needed
- Keep lessons moving at a good pace and involve all students
- Write brief weekly lesson notes and set appropriate practice tasks
- Encourage students' confidence, participation and enjoyment
- Prepare students for performances and live events
- Communicate professionally with the Anthem team
- Be reliable and consistent with your agreed weekly timetable
The Ideal Candidate

- Comfortable teaching small groups
- Able to clearly demonstrate and explain musical concepts
- Passionate about helping young musicians develop
- Keen to become part of a supportive and growing teaching team
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 8 Guitar or equivalent ability
- Degree in Music, Performance or Music Technology
- Previous experience teaching children
- Experience teaching small groups
- Experience preparing students for performances
- Enhanced DBS
- Driving licence
These are desirable rather than essential. Training and ongoing support are available for the right candidate, so we’re equally interested in strong musicians with the right personality and potential to become excellent teachers.
