Animal Welfare Investigations Project (AWIP)
Remote (UK-based) | Full-time | Fast-paced fundraising role.
The closing date for this role is 19th July 2026. Interviews are expected the week commencing 27th July 2026.
Do you want your work to directly save animals?
Animal Welfare Investigations Project (AWIP) is a frontline animal protection organisation. We investigate, disrupt, protect and rescue animals suffering in organised cruelty, from illegal puppy trading and dogfighting to the dog meat trade.
Email is one of our most powerful tools. When an AWIP email goes out, it can lead to rescues, arrests, prosecutions, and real-world impact within days, sometimes hours.
We’re now looking for an Email Marketing Officer with strong e-commerce or high-volume fundraising experience to join our fast-growing digital fundraising team.
This role is not about “one newsletter a week.” It’s about speed, experimentation, performance, and scale.
The role
You’ll be responsible for planning, building, launching and optimising a high volume of email fundraising campaigns — typically up to 12+ campaigns per week, each with associated action or donation pages.
You’ll work closely with our investigations and fundraising teams to turn live intelligence, rescues and breaking developments into compelling supporter journeys that convert.
This is an ideal role for someone coming from:
- E-commerce email marketing
- Performance fundraising
- Rapid-cycle digital acquisition
- High-volume CRM/email environments
What you’ll be doing
- Creating and launching high-frequency email campaigns (appeals, updates, petitions, polls, emergency alerts, follow-ups and conversions)
- Building and optimising action and donation pages to support each campaign, with a strong focus on conversion rate and supporter experience
- Managing the full email lifecycle: subject lines, body copy, CTAs, segmentation, timing, follow-ups and suppression logic
- Working at speed to turn live investigations and rescues into effective supporter communications
- Running rapid A/B testing across subject lines, asks, framing, and timing
- Monitoring and optimising performance against KPIs such as open rate, CTR, conversion rate, revenue per send and unsubscribe rate
- Working closely with fundraising and leadership to align campaigns with income targets and operational priorities
- Maintaining strong CRM and data hygiene practices to ensure accurate tracking and reporting
- Producing clear performance insights and recommendations to continuously improve results
- Staying on top of email fundraising, e-commerce and digital trends, sharing ideas proactively
What we’re looking for
You’ll be someone who moves fast, thinks commercially, and cares deeply about impact.
Essential:
- Proven experience in email marketing, ideally in: e-commerce, high-volume digital fundraising, subscription or direct-response environments.
- Comfortable producing multiple campaigns per week with quick turnaround times
- Strong copy instincts — you know how to hook attention and drive action
- Highly data-driven, confident working with KPIs, spreadsheets and performance dashboards
- Experience building or optimising landing pages, action pages or donation journeys
- Excellent time management and ability to juggle multiple live campaigns at once
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment
Desirable:
- Experience with nonprofit or cause-led fundraising
- CRM or ESP experience (e.g. MailerLite, Salesforce, FundraiseUp, Action Network or similar)
- Understanding of donor psychology and conversion optimisation
- Experience working with large or rapidly growing email lists
How you work
- You’re highly organised but not rigid
- You thrive under pressure and enjoy rapid execution
- You test, learn, iterate and don’t take results personally
- You’re motivated by real-world outcomes, not vanity metrics
- You’re comfortable balancing urgency with supporter care and long-term list health
This role is not for you if:
- You prefer slow, long lead-time campaigns with weeks of sign-off and polish
- You’re looking to send one or two emails a week and call it done
- You find fast turnarounds, breaking news, or shifting priorities stressful
- You’re uncomfortable being accountable to clear performance metrics and revenue outcomes
- You dislike testing, iterating, and occasionally having ideas not work
- You need heavy structure, detailed briefs, or constant direction to get started
- You want a purely “brand” or awareness-focused email role rather than direct-response fundraising
This role is for someone who enjoys pace, pressure, ownership and seeing their work translate directly into animals being rescued and protected.

- You’ll work with a small, driven team with no corporate fluff
- You’ll help scale an organisation with global ambitions and real impact
- You’ll be part of a mission that genuinely protects animals at their most vulnerable
