About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, compassionate and motivated Deputy Manager to support the leadership of our children’s residential home.
Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will help lead the staff team and ensure children and young people receive safe, nurturing, therapeutic and trauma-informed care. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of safeguarding, care planning, staff development and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the home.
- Lead, motivate and support Residential Childcare Workers to deliver high-quality, child-centred care.
- Promote a therapeutic, trauma-informed and relationship-based approach.
- Ensure the safety, welfare and rights of children and young people remain central to practice.
- Support the development and review of care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies.
- Lead shifts and provide guidance during safeguarding concerns, incidents and challenging situations.
- Provide staff supervision, coaching and support with professional development.
- Support effective recruitment, induction and performance management.
- Maintain high standards of recording, reporting and information sharing.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, families, education, health and other professionals.
- Support the Registered Manager with audits, quality assurance and continuous service improvement.
- Help ensure the home operates in accordance with Care Inspectorate requirements, SSSC Codes of Practice, GIRFEC, the Health and Social Care Standards and relevant Scottish legislation and guidance.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager when required.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has significant experience within children’s residential care or a closely related service.
- Has experience leading, supervising or mentoring staff.
- Has a strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed care and positive behaviour support.
- Can confidently manage challenging situations and make appropriate safeguarding decisions.
- Has excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- Is committed to children’s rights and achieving positive outcomes.
- Holds, or is willing to obtain where appropriate, the qualifications required for the role and SSSC registration.
- Is willing to work flexibly according to the needs of the home.
Essential Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to meet the appropriate Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration and qualification requirements for their role.
As this is a regulated role with children, appointment will also be subject to appropriate PVG Scheme membership, satisfactory references and completion of all required safer recruitment checks.
Previous management or senior-level experience within a children’s residential setting is highly desirable.

Pay: £30,000.00-£32,999.00 per year
