Introduction
Sarant Ltd. is a leading supplier of liquid honey and specialist ingredients to the food and drink industry.
We are seeking a Technical Assistant to join our busy Technical team and provide support across a range of technical, quality, and food safety activities. This is an entry-level opportunity, ideal for someone looking to gain valuable experience within a food manufacturing environment and take the first steps towards a career in Technical, Quality, or Food Safety.
The role offers a combination of office-based and factory-based work. The successful candidate will be organised, proactive, and able to manage a varied workload while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
Work Hours
The standard working pattern is a 39-hour week across five days: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–4:00pm (8 hours per day), and Friday, 8:00am–3:00pm (7 hours).
Key Responsibilities
- Issuing Certificates of Analysis to customers for relevant products.
- Maintaining and updating the site training matrix, ensuring training records remain accurate and up to date.
- Supporting the supplier approval process by ensuring relevant documentation, including accreditation certificates, supplier questionnaires, and raw material specifications, is current and complete.
- Managing stock levels of technical and hygiene consumables and ensuring replenishment when required.
- Updating Technical KPI trackers, spreadsheets, and other relevant records.
- Logging laboratory samples, coordinating submissions, and collating and reviewing test results.
- Completing site-based audits, including GMP, glass, and hygiene audits, and supporting the follow-up of any identified actions.
- Verifying production activities and completing sign-offs to ensure factory personnel are following approved procedures and work instructions.
- Carrying out routine testing of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished products in accordance with established procedures.
- Reviewing production and factory paperwork for accuracy and completeness, addressing any issues with relevant personnel, and ensuring records are correctly filed and uploaded to the relevant systems.
- Completing shelf-life extension documentation and maintaining appropriate supporting records.
- Providing support to the QA and QC teams with routine activities and holiday cover, as required.
Skills & Experience
- Must have the right to work in the UK. Please note that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general IT systems
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with production teams, technical colleagues, and external partners
- Previous experience in a similar role within food manufacturing is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided
- A flexible, proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop

Pay: £25,774.00-£29,000.00 per year
