Job Summary
LXP Specialists are looking to recruit SEN Teaching Assistants on behalf of an SEN school based in Manchester. The school are looking for dedicated and compassionate professionals to jump in when needed to cover for courses, sickness and school trips.
The school currently needs an experienced SEN TA until the end of June 2026 and this will likely be extended.
The school is a large SEN school with a variety of children with complex needs, therefore we are looking for Teaching Assistants who have experience of both SEMH and PMLD, and some personal care may be required.
Experience of working with all key stages will be beneficial, as you will be required to be flexible however the immediate role is working in a year 5 class.
Your role will consist of general classroom support, but also working closely with children with additional needs, including those with autism and other disabilities. Some 1:1 support will also be needed.

Duties
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes to children with diverse needs, including special education and autism support.
- Support children with behavioural, social, and emotional challenges by implementing personalised strategies.
- Provide one-on-one assistance to children of all ages ensuring they are engaged and supported throughout lessons and activities.
- Help organise classroom activities, prepare materials, and maintain a stimulating learning environment.
- Support children during playtime, lunch, and other daily routines to promote social interaction and independence.
- Communicate effectively with children, teachers, parents, and other staff to ensure consistent support for each child's development.
- Monitor children's progress and report observations to the teaching staff for ongoing assessment.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities.
- Knowledge of working with individuals with autism or other behavioural challenges is desirable.
- Prior experience in toddler care or early years education is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children of varying abilities and backgrounds.
- Compassionate attitude with patience and understanding towards children's individual needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment committed to inclusive education.
- Relevant qualifications in childcare, special education needs (SEN), or teaching assistance are preferred but not essential. This position provides an enriching opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting children's learning journeys within a nurturing environment.
We can offer Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications to successful applicants, if you do not already hold a certificate.
