Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The role will be over 4 days, and rotating weekends. No late nights. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service. As a vital part of our kitchen operations, the Sous Chef will support the Head Chef in managing daily activities, supervising staff, and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to standards.
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, including chefs and kitchen assistants, fostering a positive team environment.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, ensuring consistency in presentation and taste.
- Manage food production processes, including portion control, plating, and quality checks.
- Maintain strict compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.
- Support with menu planning, ingredient sourcing, and inventory management to minimise waste.
- Train new team members on food preparation techniques and safety procedures.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned regularly.
- Assist in serving customers when required, ensuring excellent customer experience.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role within a busy restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Supervising experience with the ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Strong culinary skills with expertise in food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure.
- Leadership qualities combined with a passion for mentoring staff and fostering teamwork.
- Experience in menu development and inventory control is desirable.
- A professional attitude with excellent communication skills.
- Relevant qualifications in culinary arts or hospitality management are preferred but not essential.
